Scott Smalley

Scott Smalley is an Honorary Lecturer for the Division of Clinical Associates under the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care in the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was the prior Head of Division of Clinical Associates from 2016 to 2022. He has been instrumental in the development and curriculum design on a national level for South Africa’s newest health professional titled, Clinical Associate.

Currently, Scott is the South African LOOOP National Coordinator to implement curriculum mapping at Faculty of Health Sciences within Universities in the country. He provides curriculum development, mapping and analysis support to lecturers and educators.

Scott has provided medical care and educational training as a Certified Physician Associate (PA-C) in the US, as a Clinical Officer (CO) in Kenya, Uganda and Zambia and currently as a Registered Clinical Associate (ClinA) in South Africa. He completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science Education in 2019 and a Masters in Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2007. He is passionate about promoting the future development and training for all Physician Associate education programs through partnerships, collaboration, and global communication.
