IAPAE Election - Term Limits

Term limits for Board of Director positions

  • All Board of Directors to serve a two-year term length for all posts.
  • The Board of Directors are expected to fulfil their role and responsibilities to the best of their abilities, providing commitment to the vision, mission and aims of the organization.
  • The Board of Directors are expected to participate in monthly, online Board of Director meetings and follow up on tasks as deemed necessary between meetings.
  • The Board of Directors are expected to plan and participate in the annual IAPAE conference during their term of service.
  • After completion of a first, two-year term, a Board of Directors may be nominated for and through popular vote during the elections, serve a second, two-year term in the same post.
  • After completion of a first, two-year term, a Board of Director may be nominated for and through popular vote during the elections, serve a first, two-year term in a different Board post, or be elected to President-Elect to serve a three-year term, however they are not eligible for election of a second term in this subsequent post.
  • It is recommended for a three-year waiting period for any President-Elect, President, Immediate Past President to be nominated for any IAPAE Board position after their three-year term.
  • It is recommended for a two-year waiting period for any other Board of Director to be nominated for any IAPAE Board position after serving two, two-year terms.

Term limits for Committee Chair positions

  • All Committee Chairs serve a one-year term length.
  • Committee Chairs are expected to fulfil their role and responsibilities to the best of their abilities, providing commitment to the vision, mission and aims of the organization and the terms of reference and objectives of the committee they serve.
  • Committee chairs are expected to facilitate at minimum, quarterly meetings, online with committee members, set out tasks as deemed necessary, and follow up with committee members between meetings as needed.
  • Committee chairs are expected to support and participate in the annual IAPAE conference during their term of service. 
  • After completion of a first, one-year term, a Committee Chair may be nominated for and through popular vote during the elections, serve a second, one-year term in the same Chair post.
  • After completion of a first, one-year term, a Committee Chair may be nominated for and through popular vote during the elections, serve a first, one-year term in a different Chair post. 
  • After completion of a first or second one-year term, a Committee Chair may be nominated for any Board of Director post, following the term rules of the elected post.
