Research Committee
The Research Committee of IAPAE is focused on supporting and promoting all scientific research activities related to PA/PA Analogue education and clinical practice. The Committee maintains a repository of scientific papers shared with members and the public.
Committee Terms of Reference
- Promote research of global impact and of international standard related to PA and PA Analogue education and practice
- Serve as scientific paper reviewers for IAPAE conferences
- Maintain a global repository of scientific papers
Committee Objectives
- To provide a paper for the IAPAE repository and research section of the website as a start point for the development of annual IAPAE Journal
- To review research abstracts for relevance for conference presentation, in an appropriate time line
- Develop a full repository of all relevant peer reviewed articles related to PA education and the profession; to host on the IAPAE website
- Explore the potential sources of funding to support research

Mirela Bruza, PhD, PA-C, is a research scientist at the National Commission on Certification of PAs (NCCPA) and an assistant professor/adjunct faculty at Seton Hall University PA Program in the United States. She obtained her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Pace University – Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, and completed her Doctoral Degree in Education Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
Mirela has practiced clinically as a PA in the fields of family medicine and endocrinology. She is also a board member/CME chair for PAs for Global Health (PAGH), a contributor to Smiles for Life (oral health global module), and serves as a peer reviewer for various national and international journals and conferences. Her research and expertise span across PA education, PA admissions, healthcare workforce, under-resourced populations, and global health initiatives.
Mirela is committed to promoting international research partnerships and supporting the development of impactful research aligned with IAPAE’s mission to ensure that our collective efforts reflect the evolving needs of our profession and contribute meaningfully to global health education.
