Regional Director – Africa

Aviwe Palesa Mgobozi is a pioneer graduate of the Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) Bachelor programme at the University of the Witwatersrand. After completing the BCMP degree, she pursued postgraduate qualifications in health professions education, earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science Education in 2016 and an MPhil in Health Professions Education in 2019. She is currently pursuing her PhD.

She serves as the Academic Head of the Division of Clinical Associates within the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care at the University of the Witwatersrand In Johannesburg, South Africa. In this role, she leads a team of educators and clinicians who are shaping the next generation of clinical associates. Her teaching philosophy values student-centredness, excellence in clinical training, professional development, professional identity, and innovation in teaching. Beyond academia, Aviwe has been an advocate for the profession and contributed to the establishment of the Professional Association of Clinical Associates of South Africa (PACASA). She continues to raise awareness in public forums, policy discussions, and community outreach initiatives, highlighting the crucial role clinical associates play in strengthening primary healthcare.

Her professional journey has been defined by a commitment to education, innovation, and advocacy.
