PA joins Editorial Board for Journal of International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation

IAPAE is delighted to share the news that Dr Anitha Chandrasekhar, a physician assistant trained in India, was selected as an Editorial Board member for the Journal of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation. She is the first PA to sit on the editorial board. IAPAE’s Student Board Member, Prathamesh Vijay, a PA student from India, caught up with Dr. Chandrasekhar recently to ask her about this invitation. Here is Dr Chandrasekhar’s response:

“It’s an absolute privilege and honour to be selected as an editorial board member of JHLT Open- the official Open Access Journal of ISHLT – International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. The fact that this is the first time a candidate with a PA background has entered the board full of MDs makes it more special. It just reinforces the fact that the barriers we often create as healthcare professionals are quite clearly in the mind and as far as clinical excellence and academic progression is concerned- not even sky is the limit! Ultimately, knowledge and skills create one’s identity, that stems from die hard work ethics and unparalleled perseverance. Looking forward to the new beginning, new role, new academic work and new learning!”.
