The Innovation Committee works closely with the IAPAE Board of Directors and relevant stakeholders to promote the agility and advancement of the organisation’s mission related to special projects. The Innovation Committee Terms of Reference are flexible given the current needs of the organisation.

Dr. Anitha Chandrasekhar, DMSc, serves as the Clinical Lead for Lung Bioengineering and Organ Procurement at Northwestern Medicine, Chicago, IL, USA. She graduated with a PA degree from India in 2004 and has been practicing as a Cardiothoracic PA in India. She completed her Master’s in Translational Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of Bristol, UK, and then pursued her Doctor of Medical Science from the University of Lynchburg, USA.

She was the Senior Vice-president of the Indian Association of Physician Assistants and the inaugural International board member of the American Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery. She has been part of the editorial board of the Journal of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery and currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation- Open Access. Along her journey, she has trained and mentored many PA students and practicing PAs, supervised clinical rotations of PAs, and regularly offers lectures and webinars for PA schools in India. She is passionate about cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular research, and clinical education.
