Senior Lecturer in Clinical Medicine, immediate former Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Kabianga, Kenya. He is also an external examiner in Moi, Jomo Kenyatta and Masinde Muliro Universities, respectively. He has served in various leadership positions including, National Assistant Secretary – General of the KCOA, the acting National Chair and Board member of Clinical Officers Council. He is also currently on Sabbatical Leave in Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK), Kenya. He has participated in various research activities, published articles in some journals and written academic books and book chapters.

Professor David Fahringer retired on June 30, 2023 after 35 years as Associate Professor in the Physician Assistant Program, Department of Health Services, College of Health Sciences, University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky (USA). Prof. Fahringer holds two undergraduate degrees and a master in Public Health. He also holds two professional degrees in radiology and as a Physician Assistant. Since 1994, he has been teaching in the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Kentucky until his retirement.

With over a decade of experience, Dr. Mahmud has been instrumental in shaping healthcare curricula, serving as a curriculum consultant for multiple institutions. Recognized for his expertise, he’s appointed as a Member of the Accreditation Assessor Panel by the Malaysian Medical Assistants Board and the Malaysian Qualifications Board, focusing on Medical Assistants, Paramedics, Health Sciences, and Applied Sciences.

Kishasha Meshack is a Principal Lecturer at Kenya Medical Training College, Nairobi, with a final year PhD thesis in Tropical and Infectious Diseases from the University of Nairobi. Holding an MPH in Epidemiology & Disease Control, MSc in HSM, and a BSc in PH, he also boasts two specialized diplomas in Clinical Medicine. Kishasha’s passions lie in teaching, research, and publications, focusing on epidemiology, reproductive health, and Health Systems management. He is the sole author of acclaimed textbooks, “Human Pathology” (2016) and “Tropical Medicine & Infectious Diseases” (2023), further establishing his reputation as a scholarly authority in the medical field.

Norris holds a degree of Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medicine with Honours from the National University of Malaysia, a Diploma of Medical Assistant, and an Advanced Diploma in Emergency and Trauma Care from the Ministry of Health Training Institute. A Certified Assistant Medical Officer with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, where he served for 12 years. Currently a dedicated Program Director & lecturer at Open University Malaysia, a certified National Advance Care Responder in Pre-Hospital Care Services (provider and trainer), and a Clinical Officer for the Malaysia Civil Defence Forces. He has completed his Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management at the University of Technology of Malaysia. Currently pursuing his doctorate at the National Defence University of Malaysia. He is also a certified Train the Trainer from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. He has a special interest in emergency medicine, and disaster response, particularly in civil-military cooperation via e-learning

Topic: Contribution of Physician Assistant/Associates in Primary Care- A Literature based Study
Physician assistants (PA) are playing a major role in healthcare workforce in many countries and the utilization of PAs are growing in a faster pace. Unlike western countries, practice of PAs at primary care in rural areas in India is very less or almost nil. This review focuses on the contribution and role of physician assistants in rural areas in India. Aims: The aim of the present study was to assess the role and employment of Physician Assistants in primary care in rural areas, India. Methods: An extensive literature search was performed using PUBMED databases using keywords such as Physician assistant, rural areas, primary care. The research articles published during the period from 2021-2023 was included in the study. Results: The literature search resulted in total of 114 articles wherein; 28 articles had a primary focus on employment of PAs in rural areas in western.
